James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl, Adapted by Timothy Allen McDonald, Benj Pasek, and Justin Paul

Directed by Patrick O’Neill • Stage Managed by Juliet Burgess • Scenic Design by Bailey Hecht • Light by Alec Jackson • Costumes by Sophie Costanzi

My set centers around a “peach-cenium” which opens and closes to indicate whether the characters are on top of or inside the peach. The concept is that when the peach-cenium is “open” the walls become that of the peach, and when they are “closed” they form the top of the peach, with the ladder as its stem.

This production is a work in progress. Below are my current renderings and ground plans.

Visual Research and Vibe

James and the Giant Peach feels like looking under your bed and seeing bugs in the shadows of the dust bunnies.”
